All ASA activities are suspended
Updated March 26: 1:00 EST
Dear ASA Families,
First and foremost, ASA hopes that all of you are in good health, safe, and enjoying time with your family. ASA continues to monitor the COVID-19 situation and are in constant communications with leagues, US Youth Soccer and MSYSA.
Based on Governor Larry Hogan’s press conference earlier today we wanted to provide some updates to everyone.
As many heard, earlier today MD State Officials have extended school closures through April 24, 2020. In addition, the MD Governor has banned mass gatherings of more than 10 people with no end date specified.
Based on this, ASA will continue to suspend the start of the spring 2020 season through April 24, 2020 for all teams (travel, county and rec).
A communication has been sent to travel team coaches and managers today outlining specific information from all the travel leagues ASA teams participate in. Coaches and Managers were asked to forward that to all travel players and parents. At this time, it is expected that the spring season for travel teams will start in early to mid-May and will run through the end of June 2020.
For our county teams and families, we are awaiting information from Anne Arundel County Parks and Rec regarding the spring season.
For rec teams and families, we will let you know additional information on expected start dates for the spring season by mid-April. We are still hopeful that the spring season will be able to start in early May and run through the end of June.
As ASA becomes aware of more information, we will communicate with families to provide more a definitive decision regarding the spring season start dates.
We encourage families to check the ASA website for additional updates.
The health and safety of our players, coaches, administrators, families and community will remain our highest priority. Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation during this unprecedented time.
